Orphanage cost per child per annum:
- Food - £183 (50p per day)
- Education - £15
- Healthcare - £5
- Clothes - £5
- Total - £216 (£18 per month)
This does not include any accommodation, electricity or maintenance.
Education
State education costs per annum:
- Elementary Level (ages 2 – 9) -£70 to £90
- Secondary (ages 10 – 14) - £80 to £100
- High School (ages 15 – 16) - £90 to £120
- University (Part time) - £150 to £250
- University (Full time) - £300 to £500
Miscellaneous
- Pay for a teacher - £240 per annum (£20 per month)
- Mosquito net (shared by up to seven children) - £5
- Sewing machine - £60
Construction
- A basic wooden school building can be erected for as little as £1,000
- A brick built dual purpose school and dormitory with 2 classrooms, a kitchen area and toilets from £10,000 - £20,000

Naing Thu Phyo, 9 Year Old Boy
He has been here for 3 years. When orphaned he was taken in by a couple who abused and tortured him. He ran away and lived on the streets. He then asked the monks to help him. When taken in he had bad injuries from the beatings, and for years displayed disturbed behaviour. He is improving steadily.
